TRAINING

AND

OUTCOMES

Community Action Dacorum is a charity that provides a circle of support to the local community. As a council for voluntary service, we believe in bringing people together to achieve more in their communities and improve quality of life.

What we do :

- Support voluntary organisations and community groups at the early stages of their development

- Provide funding advice, representation and a payroll service to help them grow and flourish

- Deliver services and projects that support local individuals, businesses and community groups

The twin trends of increased longevity and reduced birth rates makes for aging populations in European nations.

The demographic of our project is therefore those who are over 50 and in need of help to get back involved with the community.

10 senior citizens from the 6 participating countries (France, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and the United Kingdom) have therefore been selected with the above criteria in mind.

With the coordination of Community Action Decorum                                 and the cooperation of six leading non-governmental bodies in Europe, including Pistes Solidaires, Replay Network, Associação Mais Cidadania, Gulbenes, and FOSa, we have put together a project that helped to educate and train seniors who would otherwise face social exclusion and/or early retirement. The training courses we have carefully crafted were designed to boost confidence and build upon everyday skills, such as digital computing and creating social networks. In this manner, we aim, to combat loneliness or isolation and promote the health and well-being of people aged 50+. Staying active together is not only our mantra, but our mission!
