From November 19th 2018 to November 21st 2018, Pistes-Solidaires hosted in Pau a Joint Staff Exchange, with members of FOSa and Replay Network.
The partners met during the exchange the following organizations:
Café suspendu, an associative cafe in the city of Billère, next to Pau
Red Cross, especially the social market for people on wellfare
Habitat Participatif, a co-owned residency with common spaces
Planned Parenthood offices of Pau
AIMA, an association selling second hand goods and furniture, with projects in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia
Parcelles Solidaires, an urban garden self+managed by 80 families
Social Centre La Pépinière, a public social centre hosting 90 associations
Accorderie Pau-Béarn, a network of exchange of services working on a volunteer basis
AGIRabcd, an association promoting literacy for disadvantaged people, including migrants, working also only with volunteers.
Pistes-Solidaires planned the mobility with one main goal : to present to the partners the diversity of the associations that can be found in France and in Pau in particular. One of the main priorities was to show to the partners how different the associations can be. In France, there are indeed associations working only with volunteers, rejecting any notion of paid work to “professional” associations with dozens of paid workers. This is exactly the spectrum of the associations visited so the partners hosted can understand the French situation when it comes to train or host volunteers. This Joint Staff Exchange was a real opportunity to present the project, to disseminate it and to deepen its local roots when it will come to host volunteers.
